Pumpkin Patch

Saturday Hubs and I took the boys to the pumpkin patch to take a few pictures.

A local church puts on this event every year.

R2's pre-school took a field trip to the pumpkin patch. And he was sick that day, and I didn't want him to miss going so I made the decision on the next nice weekend we would go.

This weekends weather did not disappoint. It was beautiful!!!

And here are the boys...

Busy busy busy

So tonight is Homecoming.

And while R1 is still WAY to young to date or even have a date, we go to homecoming. Mostly to show Hubs some support.

But I actually love to see the girls all dressed up in their gowns and hair done. I also like to see the guys all cleaned up wearing a suit and tie.

So tonight I will put my school colors shirt, spike the boys hair up with colored hair gel and pray we win!

What are y'all doing tonight?

The Charm House

I have to tell you about my friend Yvette, of The Charm House.

I have known her over a year, thanks to blogging.

She is super talented and amazing. She has so much creativity it just oozes from her soul.

Over the last year she has inspired me to make things I never would have thought to even try. I mean I consider myself to be a pretty creative person. I love to scrapbook and that takes some imagination. But she puts me in shame!

Like this memory jar. Hers was awesome! But I thought I could do this and it would be a great way to display all the stuff the boys collected. And I love how it turned out too.

Right now she is in what I call creativity mode. She's totally on a roll! Her daughter is getting married and had made somethings for the junior bridesmaids to carry that are just stunning.

She has also made some necklaces for Christmas which are just darling!

And I can a test to the darling factor, she made me a Santa domino necklace last year and I receive so many compliments every time I wear it.

So if y'all get a minute pop on over to her blog and check out her crafting. And leave her a sweet comment too.

The great costume debate

I can finally say my boys are costume ready for Halloween.

And it only took a sweet forever for R1 to decide what he was going to be this year.

R2 was all set on Iron Man until he saw the Bumble Bee, from Transformers, costume with it's built in muscles and body armour. He grabbed the costume off the rack and wouldn't let it go until I told him I would buy it.

R1 well he was on the fence about several different ideas he had and couldn't and wouldn't commit to any one thing.

So after much gnashing of the teeth and trying to find the one he wanted in his size he has decided to be a ninja.

A black ninja with a body shield and shields for his shins and arms. And a sword. Because no ninja is complete with out a sword.

My only problem is that half way through the night I will end up carrying said sword along with their candy bags/buckets.

So tell me what your kids are going to be for Halloween?

Pumpkin carving time

Just a little something to make you laugh...

I ran this picture last year and loved it!

How are you going to carve your pumpkins?

The boys usually pick out one design for me to carve and that one goes on our big pumpkin. Then I cut our self adhesive black felt in the shape of eyes, noses, and mouths and the boys decorate their smaller pumpkins.

I feel there is neither a right or wrong way to carve a pumpkin. It's all about having fun.

But for those of you that are serious. Check these out!

More baseball stuff and other news

Here I go again. I'm late putting up a post.

We had a busy weekend. But when don't we.

R1 had a friend spend the night Friday night. And they had a blast. They even included R2 in pretty much what ever it was they were doing.

I still managed to spend most of my time in the kitchen though. Why is it that boys are bottomless pits when it comes to eating?

R1's friend stayed at our house all day Saturday and we brought him home when we left to go to our Sunday School party.

Loved the fellowship Saturday night and the food...AWESOME!! My baked potato dip was hit. And it's so easy, here's the recipe.

BAKED POTATO DIP
1 12oz tub of sour cream
1 8oz pkg of real bacon bits
1 pkg of cheddar cheese (2cups) Your preference of sharp or mild
1/4 cup fine chopped green onion
Mix all ingrediants together
Serve with plain Ruffles potato chips
See told you it was easy! And it's even bettter if you let it sit over night. YUM!!!
Sunday we went to church and then R1 had is select baseball team kick off. More good food. We got to meet everyone on his team and their parents. We also got to order uniforms and parent shirts, sweat shirts, and all the other baseball paraphernalia.

We also got our fundraisers. UGH!! I don't like fund raiser but it's a necessary evil I guess.

And on Saturday afternoon we got some bad news.

My stepmother's father passed away. He was 90. He had just turned 90 last month and had a huge birthday party and all of his children, grand children, and great grand children were there. I'm so glad everyone got to attended and have this special memory.

My stepmother works for the FDIC and is usually out of town working but it just happened that she came home on Friday night and then her brother called her Saturday.

So please keep my dad and stepmother, M & C in your prayers, along with her family.

Hope y'all have a great week!!

It's Friday and I got nothin'

Well once again, I'm late putting up a post for all of my three readers, do I even have that many?

I do need to shout out to Beachy Mimi, I won a give away she had and she sent me a gift card to Target!!

THANKS MIMI!!!

R2 is now sick and Hubs is at home with him today.

Clouds are moving in and it's suppose to rain today and turn colder. Woo Hoo!!! But even that will be short lived, high for Tuesday is back in the 80's

Hello, it's October, where is my cold weather Mother Nature?

Other than that, I got nothin'.

Have a great weekend y'all.

Peace out!

When it rains it pours

OK so I have a little pity party going on right now and after I vent out my frustrations to y'all I will feel much better.

So I missed work on Monday because R1 was still sick.

Yesterday he broke a bracket off of his braces and I have to take him to the ortho today to have it replaced. Mind you hasn't even had them on a month and he was eating a carrot when it broke.

We have a party on Saturday that I need to get ready for and then R1 has a select baseball kick off BBQ on Sunday afternoon.

UUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!

OK I feel better now, thank you very much!

Handy Hubs

This past weekend Hubs and I loaded up the family and went to help my dad.

Dad lives in Houston and he needed some help with a project he has been working on. He built a deck in his back yard and covered it and needed help putting the roof on.

I volunteered Hubs to help because he has skillz.

Actually Hubs has done this sort of thing before with his dad. And I knew that he would know what needed to be done.

And here is the proof that Hubs was pretty handy.

Believing God

Last night I attended my first Beth Moore bible study.

Now don't go gettin' all envious because it wasn't an in person event, it was taped.

Two ladies at my church
, Beth and Karen, did this study over the summer and thought it would be wonderful to share it with the rest of us. And I love these two ladies and would have gone even if it wasn't a Beth Moore study but once I found out it was, I couldn't sign up fast enough.

And true to what I have heard here in bloggy world, Beth brought it!

SHE WAS AMAZING!!!

Can I get an Amen?

We are doing the study "Believing God".

So for the next nine weeks we will be meeting once a week to hear Beth speak. And when I say speak, I mean speak right to me and my heart and my soul and my very being.

I am so excited to be apart of this study. I am ready to for God to show him self once again in a big HUGE way to me.

I am ready for him to move me to places I have never been. I am looking forward to growing more in faith and my relationship with the Lord.

So to Beth Moore I say...BRING IT! I'm believing God.

The other great sickness of 2009

I'm sorry for posting this so late but I was short on time last night and this morning wasn't much better.

We got over the great stomach virus of 09 but now we have another visitor to our household and I don't want this one at all!

THE FLU!!

R1 went to the nurse yesterday and complained that his head and stomach hurt. The nurse called Hubs and he went to check on him. They gave him a peppermint and talked him into staying for the rest of the day.

Hubs also had football last night and after I got off of work, I went to meet him at the game.

I found R1 in the press box, where it was air conditioned, thank you very much. But he was asleep with his head on the counter. And when I touched his face he was on fire.

So we promptly left the game and got home and took his temperature.

102.00 was what the thermometer said. And just for good measure I took it again and it read 101.8 so I knew it was right. And he was complaining that his bones hurt too.

One dose of Motrin coming up.

Then R1 went and got on the couch for the rest of the night. R2 was so sweet, he kept checking on him and asking if he needed anything.

So today he has a doctors appointment and hopefully he will get a hefty dose of Tamiflu and we can get past the sickness.

And in the mean time, I have once again donned my hazmat suit and hosed the house down in Lysol.

Now if we can just keep the rest of us from getting it.

So this weekend when y'all are playing and having fun, think of me walking around my house in my bright white attire and packing a can of Lysol.

And it's OK if you laugh at the thought, because hopefully, I will be laughing to, hopefully!

Baseball stuff again

I know I know, how can one person, that is of the female nature, post so much about baseball.

Seriously.

Hubs sent me this clip and I just couldn't pass this up.

Now only if Mike Blowers would send me the lottery numbers, I be all set!

The end of the 2009 season

Today is the last day of September, like you didn't know.

For me I always declare the end of September, the end of hurricane season.

And while the season does not officially end until November 30th. I say September 30th is the end.

The past 4 years any and all hurricane issues have been related to the month of September.

And I look at this way, if we can make it through September we are in the clear. Or does Merle Haggard sing it...If we make through December?

I honestly don't think I could have stood another season like last year. You remember all of my drama. I only talked about it for a sweet forever and y'all were so good to listen and let me just put it all out there.

Anyway,

To day is the end of the 2009 season, and I think I just might bust a move and do a happy dance. OK well not bust a move because I just might bust my behind.

But I will do some sort of celebrating. And doesn't celebrating involve eating? Bring on the cheesecake!

Ortho adventure #3

So R1 hasn't even had braces for a week and we have a problem.

First I have to say that R1 has been very diligent in brushing and flossing extensively every day. And he was really great about the pain that goes with having braces
. He hardly ever complained and he only asked for Advil once.

Yesterday while at school, a wire popped out of the bracket and is now loose.

So this means a trip back to the ortho and more time I need to take off work to get him there.

I see many more visits to the Dr.'s office in our future. Or at least that is what my crystal ball says.

The future Mrs. R2

The boys and I attended a birthday party on Saturday. We all had so much fun!

I need to give you a little background on B, she is such a cutie!

My mother in law, Duh-Duh and Kathy, have been best friends since high school. And Kathy is B's grandma. My mother in law had two children, Hubs and his sister C. Kathy had two children L, B's mom, and her brother T.

Duh-Duh and Kathy have always remained clos
e and once their children came along, the friendship grew even closer. I have many pictures of both families always together.

And while Duh-Duh and Kathy remained close, the kids grew and went their own ways in life.

One day L was dropping off B at the same day care that R2 goes to. I hear the owner say her name and her daughters name. I ask her if Kathy is her mom and then introduce my self.

She couldn't believe it! B had been telling her about R2 for days! She couldn't wait to get
home and call her mom, Kathy and tell her who B had been talking about. Duh-Duh's grandson.

So the kids have attended the same daycare since they were born and we didn't know it. Both my mother in law and Kathy were so excited.

L and I would tell our families stories of what R2 and B did every day. The grandma's loving hearing about their grandchildren playing together.

Secretly I think they liked that their families were still intertwined.

B is the cute little girl I had previously blogged about that R2 had dumped. She wa
s no longer his girlfriend.

So when R2 received the birthday invitation for B's party, I asked R2 if he wanted to go and he said yes because she was his girlfriend.

When I told him I thought he had broken up with her, he replied, No mama, I'm gonna marry her!

So I guess that answered my question, we were going to the party.

Any way we get there and L was so excited to see us and called B to come and see who was there. B comes down the stairs, grabs R2's hand and off they went. It was so stinkin' cute!

About 10 minutes later they come down the stairs and B announces that she is gonna marry R2 and that she wanted to give him a kiss.

R2 wants no part of that kiss and takes off for the door.

Guess B is just gonna have to settle for a ride from R2 on her new pink Barbie 4-wheeler.

And another grea
t part of the day, I got to hang out with my mother in laws best friend, Kathy.

Here we are looking at old pictures from when Duh-Duh, Hubs' dad, Kathy and her husband were all in school.

It was such a fund day! And who knows the grandma's may be family one day! And they may be helping to plan a wedding.

And ssshhh, secretly, I'm OK with that, both Grandma's are awesome people, and I love them to pieces!

Where do I start

I totally missed putting up a post yesterday. Things have been so busy here I am beginning to feel slammed!!

Two HUGE things happened at our house yesterday.

HUGE!!!

First, R1's ortho adventure took on a whole new meaning. Take a look at what happened on adventure #2

See what I mean.

Second, I know you have heard me mention a time or two or ten about how much we love baseball. And how I usually don't know what to do when the season ends and how R1 would be trying out for a new select baseball team.

Well, he tried out for two and even got an offer to play on a team that he didn't even try out for!

And Wednesday, the team we really wanted him to be on called and let us know that he made the team!

I seriously don't know who was more pumped up me or R1.

But I have to tell the story of how I found out, so hang on, it might be a little long.

I was on my way home from work and I was talking to a friend, when Hubs beeped in and when I clicked over he said, "I don't know who you are talking to but get off the phone with them I need to talk to you about R1."

When he starts off with something like that, it makes me very leery of what he is going to say.

So I hang up with my friend and switch back over and he says again, "Hang on I'm gonna let R1 tell you."

Again, I'm worried and waiting for R1 one to tell the something bad happened at school.

So R1 gets on the phone and says, "Mom, and pauses, I MADE THE STORM!!"

I then yell back at him that I was super excited and so proud of him.

And that moment I looked at the car next to me and they were staring at me. Staring at me with one of those strange puzzled looks.

Guess I yelled a little to loud.

Have a great weekend!

Power of prayer

Things have been a little crazy at my job the past few days.

So crazy that I woke up at 3:30 yesterday morning and couldn't go back to sleep.

I lay in bed tossing and turning along with 5 bazillion thoughts running through my head for what seemed like a sweet forever, when finally the best idea made it's self known.

PRAY! Just be still and pray is what I really heard.

And so I laid there, light as a feather, stiff as a board, oh wait wrong age and time period, still as a board and heavy like a ton of bricks, and prayed.

When I finished, I glanced at the clock to see how much longer I had before the alarm went off and realized that I had been praying for an hour! And then the rain started and slept so peacefully for the next hour till the alarm went off.

During my time with God, I asked him to calm me, to settle my soul, to love me, and guide me.

I asked him this again during the day at work and you know by the end of the day, prayers were answered. I left work with a calm feeling, a peaceful feeling that God was in control of everything and all would turn out according to His plan.

I think I have prayed more this year than any other. Things this year were challenging. Character building. And knew I couldn't do it with out God. He made himself and His wishes for me so apparent, it felt as if He was there next to me telling me go here, do this. Say this and ask for that.

And I know with out a shadow of a doubt that God answered my prayers. And things always turn out the way He wants them to!

Orthodontic adventure #1

I knew when both of my boys were born that they would probably need braces when the got older. Hubs and I both had braces in our youth.

Don't get me wrong the boys had beautiful baby teeth. Perfectly white and straight and did I say white.
I just knew that all the prayers and sacrifices made to the teeth gods would go unanswered.

Just thinking about braces makes my teeth hurt all over again! I mean the ache and that feeling of having your inner cheeks being pulled by wires poking out. And the mounds of wax, who could forget the wax.

So yesterday we started on our orthodontic adventure with R1.

He received the beloved spacers. Ahh the pain of feeling as if something is stuck in your teeth, only knowing what is in there is supposed to be in there.

Any way back to the story.

We got to the orthodontist and 10 minutes later he walks out with blue bands on four of his teeth.

I ask him if it hurts and he says no, he's such a trooper! But I tell him when we get home I am going to give him some Advil just as a precaution.

So we leave the ortho's office and they remind me what he shouldn't eat while he has these spacers in his mouth and they also remind me of his next appointment.

Which just happens to be Thursdays, to put the bands on his teeth and the pallet spreader in.

Yes folks a pallet spreader! The dr. says his mouth is not big enough for all of his teeth.

I beg to differ. Sometimes I think he has a big mouth. So big he sometimes puts his foot in it!

Boyhood right of passage

R1 did a great job for his first time mowing the yard. Hubs and I were so proud of him.

And yes grandparents we did pay him!

Happy Anniversary Hubs!

On Sunday Hubs and I will celebrate 12 years of marriage. It's hard to believe that 12 years have passed so quickly.

This time last year we were dealing with Hurricane Ike and our anniversary kinda took a back seat. Which by the way, Hubs you did a great job taking care of everything, even with me trying to micromanage. I love you and thank you!

12 years ago we stood facing each other, me a nervous wreck and Hubs just as calm as could be, and said we would love each other for better or worse, sickness and health, good times and bad.

And in 12 years we have had them all. But the entire time we have kept God in the fore front and worked hard to make it this far.

You are my best friend! The one I call when something wonderful happens and when something awful takes place.

The one who gives me the best advice and has my best interests at heart.

The one person who I can tell everything to. My dreams, my hopes, fears, concerns, wants, and needs. The one person I am completely safe with.

Thank you Hubs for 12 amazing years, I love you.

Happy Anniversary.

It's been an amazing journey that I hope never ends!!
