Hard work yard work

During Spring Break I had a goal to work in the yard.

Goal achieved.

Tuesday morning I got up and in the yard by 9:30AM. It took me about 3 1/2 hours to get the all of the weeds pulled, flower pots cleaned out, hedges trimmed and Roundup sprayed.

The only part of the yard I couldn't really work in was the front flower beds. We have Azaleas planted and they are in full bloom. There is a plethora of bees and wasps. Which do not agree with me to well and I try to steer clear of them to avoid an EpiPen shot. But I did manage to spray some Roundup where it was needed so when the time comes I can pull the weeds with ease and then put down the mulch.

Here are few shots of the yard after all of the work was done.

My favorite corner

I love the terracotta pots!
Half of the blooms have already fallen off

Brusha brusha brusha get the new Ipana toothpaste

One of the things we did while on Spring Break was make our semi annual trip to the dentist. I would like to say we did nothing but fun things while on our break but I don't know if you would call going to the dentist fun. Well unless you are R2. He thought it was fun.

End of Spring Break 2011

Ahh Spring Break 2011 I will miss you.

Today it's back to the routine. And to be honest I don't really know if I am ready for it or not. I guess I better get ready because it's here for the next few months. How many more days till summer? 48. But I'm not counting.

Friday we took the boys to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid-Rodrick Rules. Half of our school was there. R2's best friend was there and he even got to sit with us. I think the second movie was better than the first. But that's just the opinion of a forty something year old.

Then we headed out for some Lamar baseball. Those of you that have been reading for a while know that was the best part of the day for me. I would like to say the boys had a blast but that would be wrong. We all had a blast. In fact we had such a great time we went back on Saturday. And that was even better. Lamar won and the boys ended up with about three foul balls and after the game we went and waited for the players to come out of the dugout to sign them.
Hubs actually coached two of the players on the team when they were in Jr. High and High School. He really enjoyed seeing them and they both them gave him a nice big sweaty hug! EEWWW. Our favorite player, Kevin
We were planning to go back Sunday but it just didn't work out. But there are several more games we are going to attend. And I for one can't wait!

Spring Break 2011

Sorry for not posting anything yesterday I got caught up in Spring Break. Really I just got caught up in the break part.

It's our last day of Spring Break and to be honest I'm not ready for this week to be over. It's been really nice hanging out with my boys.

We got the entire yard whipped into shape on Tuesday and now we are ready for our annual Good Friday BBQ in a month. I'm so excited! The rest of the week we kinda just hung out and really did what ever we wanted to.

Back in January R2 got a Slip N Slide for his birthday, really who gives a 6yr old a Slip N Slide when it's almost cold enough to snow. That's like giving a kid a lolly pop at 9AM and telling them they can't have it until after dinner and dinner is at 6pm. (Sorry, if you are the one who gave him the slide and you are reading this.)

Any way it was 85 here today and that's almost 107 degrees, right? So we broke out the slide and the kids had a blast!

Today we actually have plans. The boys have been looking forwarded to Friday all week. I'll definitely have pictures for Monday.

Hope the weather is perfect where you are and you have a great weekend!

My sinuses and hands are killing me

So we are on Spring Break and I figured since we were off and the weather is perfect, the yard a could use an over haul.

The weeds had taken over the flower beds and the leaves were starting to turn to mulch they had been in the yard so long. The bricked areas in the back yard had weeds coming up between the stones.

So R2 and I set out to clean up the back yard starting at 9:30AM. And the next time I checked the clock it was noon straight up as Hubs said. When all over and done with it was 2:30 and the yard looked awesome! R2 and I did great.

While I forgot to take a before picture, the after is still sitting in my camera which is in the kitchen and I am sitting in the living in my recliner with my feet propped up.

And I'm going to end this post now because my hands, especially my thumbs, are killing me due to all of the digging and pulling of the weeds and my sinuses are now completely out of whack to due to all the digging and pulling.

Y'all have a great day!

Spring Break Edition

We are all officially on Spring Break this week.

Yesterday the boys just lounged around all day and did pretty much nothing.

Today we are cleaning the house and working in the yard. We really need to get the yard ready for our annual Good Friday BBQ. I have purchased a few new things for the yard and I am excited about getting them set up.

We are hopefully going to play the rest of week. Y'all have a great day and I will try and post more pictures later in the week.

Repost of a post

Since it's kinda late and it is baseball season and I really can't think of a single thing at the moment I thought I would repost something I did in 2008.

And I have to say I'm still out, ate an entire package on Saturday and we have a game tonight. Guess I will be stopping at Academy.

Anyway here you go.

Baseball Right of Passage

Eating sunflower seeds at the ballpark is a right of passage. Every year just before the season begins I get a craving for these things. I have to admit that David is the best brand. I have tried several others but nothing compares to David sunflower seeds. I even love their saying..Eat. Spit. Be happy. No they aren't paying me to say this but I wouldn't refuse some sunflower seeds if they sent them to my door. (hint, hint)

The boys and I buy seeds before every game . R1 likes the plain old regular flavor. R2 calls them flower seeds and he like BBQ the best. Me, well they came out with a new flavor this year. Are you ready? Dill Pickle. Oh yeah! I love me some Dill Pickle sunflower seeds. As a matter of fact I have some in my mouth right now.

Yes I would consider myself an experienced seed eater. I do just like they say one would do. I pop a handful, well not a handful about 10-12 in my mouth. Store them in one cheek and transfer one over to the other side. I crack the shell and eat the seed. But I don't spit the shell. So unlady like. (yeah like having a cheek full of sunflower seeds is lady like) I take the shell out with my fingers and throw it on the ground or in the trash can.

Along with several other moms I can eat a whole bag by myself. It must be a sight to see all of us moms sitting by the dugout in our chairs with our cheeks puffed out with seeds and "spitting".

So with that. Eat. Spit. Be happy.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Top o' the mornin' to you. And a Happy St. Patty's Day to you.

I know the Irish accent thing just doesn't work with my Texas twang. It doesn't work to well either when I try to sound like I am my aunt from New York.

Any way.

Hope y'all are wearing green today because if come in contact with any one under the age of 12 and you don't have on green I'm sure you will be pinched.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

Y'all have a great day!

It's quiet

It's only 9:10pm and except for the whir of the dishwasher my house is quiet.

No I am not the only one home but it feels as if I am. Even the dog is quiet as she sleeps in my lap.

The reason...I sent everyone to bed.

The night actually started off great with a win at the ball park but it quickly went down hill after we got home.

Rush to cook dinner, rush to clean up, rush to bathe kids, and rush to do some laundry made for some pretty cranky people in my house. So in a rush I sent them to bed.

Night Hubs. Night R1. Night R2.

Sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite.

I love you once love you twice sweet dreams through out the night.

Opening Day 2011

We spent all day at the ball park on Saturday. And when I say all day, I mean all day from 8AM till 6:30PM to be exact.

The boys had an opening day tournament. Which loosely means you play till you lose.

R1 didn't win but he played great. He played first base for two innings and made several outs and then caught for the remainder of the game and make a couple of outs there. I was one proud mama.

R2 played third and did a great job too. He even made an out at home. But his team went on to play three games and won the tournament! WAY TO GO METS! All of the boys did an awesome job and I was so proud of R2.
It was great weekend. And I know you are all just dying to know this next tid bit. I ate an entire package of dill pickle sunflower seeds Saturday and for the records my tongue is still raw.

Have a great day!

Boys and their toys

Saturday it rained so much it looked like we had a lake in our front and back yard.

We ended up getting over four inches. I'm not complaining we needed it. My grass was so brown and now it's green. All Hubs needs to do now is spread out the Bonus S weed and feed and were set.

But with all the rain the boys couldn't go outside to play. No baseball, no basketball, no riding their bikes.

So what's a kid to do when he can't go outside...

He turns the living room into his own personal train yard.

Hijacked

I apologize to all those wanting to see what happened with the rain. Unfortunately you will have to wait until tomorrow. Instead I interrupt your regularly scheduled blog view with this post. AS is my custom I like to take over things here for RRMamas birthday. Instead of a long drawn out list or sappy post, today I am celebrating her birthday with a picture. One of my favorite and very regular sights to see. Happy birthday Bev. I love you!

Sorry I'm usually not like this

Sorry I know yesterdays post was a bit morbid. It seems here lately that someone I know has passed away.

I think it's safe to say I am funeraled out. funeraled isn't even a word but lets just go with it.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. It rained here ALOT on Saturday. And we are hoping for the rain to go away for the weekend because guess what....

It's finally opening day for baseball!! And this mama couldn't be happier.

I hope y'all have a great day and I'll be back tomorrow with a picture of what happened to my house on Saturday during the rain. Don't worry it's nothing bad.

Rejoicing comes in the morning

Death surrounds me like the night.

It settles all around me. I feel it pull at me and it begins to weigh me down.

A twinkling star shines brighter in the evening sky. A twinkle that was not there the night before.

First there is one, then another, and a another. How many more will shimmer before I see the sun rise?

How many I ask. 2, 3, ...

As the dark pulls me further and further I see a glimmer. Just a spec of sun light.

Then as the minutes pass more and more light floods my eyes.

A light so bright it's blinding. And I know rejoicing comes in the morning.

It's not easy being green

I went to H-E-B almost a week ago when I came across this lovely display of green bananas.

And yes I just sang the B-A-N-A-N-A-S part in the song Holla Back Girl by Gwen Stefani as I typed it out both times.

There was not one yellow banana in sight. Not a one. So I did what any good mother would do. I threw a bunch in my cart and brought them home. R2 was not to happy that he had to wait a few days to eat one. But he quickly got over it because look what else I bought.

Two words...Blue Bell, enough said.

It's Christmas time ...NOT

I saw this in the back of a students truck as I was leaving work yesterday. It made me laugh out loud so I had to stop and take a picture.

I have several things to say about this.

Ummm, I think it's safe to say it's dead. And really it's March, Christmas has been over for two and half months...hello it's time to trash it. Or at least use it for kindling since it has been chilly here and temps have fallen below 65 and that just screams it time for a fire. Just kidding, it takes more than that to make me cold.

OK, y'all have a great day!

He really does read me

Last week I was sitting in the recliner and I looked over to where Hub's was sitting.

His little corner in the living room is the computer armoire with all of his computer and his "stuff".

I know I sound so mean, giving him a little corner. But here's the back story. When R2 was born Hub's lost his nice big computer room and I didn't want the computer desk in our bedroom since I go to sleep way before he usually does. So we bought a computer armoire. Hub's likes to collect computer "stuff" and that's OK with me but I don't want to see it nor do I want our company to see it when the come over, so we purchased an armoire so I could shut the doors and all people would see was a nice piece of furniture.

OK so back to Hub's sitting at his little area in the living room and me sitting in the recliner.

I look over at Hub's to see what he is doing and this is what I see....

Him reading my blog. Guess he really does read it. Oh and don't notice all the "stuff" on the shelf above the computer or the Internet cord running across the shelf and hanging down the door.

Oh and the head phones are because he plays a game called WOW (World of Warcraft) and I can't stand to watch TV and hear the game. But only because we end up having a volume war. So he purchased some very nice, very expensive headphones. Which I guess he wears even when he's not playing WOW.
