Out of my league

About a month ago my sweet niece called me and asked me to watch her dance competition. I said yes because I would do anything for that girl.

She told me since I live in a house full of boys, the only alliance I have is the dog, Cookie, that I needed some girl time. Time with her, my sister in law and my mother in law. I thanked her and said I would be there. Then she said the competition was at the end of March and it was in Baton Rouge.

Well it's the end of March and guess where I'm going this weekend? Baton Rouge. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

I know absolutely nada about the 6-7 dances she is in. Baseball, no problem, but dance. I'm gonna be so lost. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be like and episode of Dance Moms. High Maintenance.

Also R2 has a baseball game tonight, R1 has a game Friday night and both boys have games on Saturday. So needless to say Hubs will be at home or should I say at the ballpark holding the fort down.

Don't worry I'm planning a trip to HEB to make sure they are stocked up supplies. Frozen pizza, chicken nuggets, Blue Bell ice cream, and the variety size box of band aids- don't judge, you never know.

I'm kinda bummed out that I'm gonna miss a few of their games. I hope Hubs remembers to text me updates.

And all I know is I hope I don't jump up and scream, "He hit a double, he hit a double or he got him out, he got him out!" during one of her dances.

See y'all Monday when I get back, Peace out!

And we're down once again

When R2 decides it's time to get sick, he does it up right.

He now has pink eye.

He came home from school Monday and had some greenish gooey stuff in the corner of his left eye. It was also watering and bloodshot.

I washed his eye out and put some wetting drops in put him to bed. Tuesday he woke up and his eye was still watering and looked pretty bad. I called the doctors office and told them what his eye looked like and also told them there had been a few cases of pink eye at school.

They called in a prescription to the pharmacy that I use. And an hour later R2 had his first dose of drops.

And this morning his eye is much better.

OK so let's see, in less than a week we had a stomach virus and pink eye. Let's hope they the sickie don't come in three's.

Opening Day 2012

Saturday was one of the best opening days we've ever had.

We had to be at the ball park at 9:30AM for pictures for R1. They were running so far behind we didn't take photos until almost 10:30.

R1's game was also running behind. But that was OK because it gave time for my in-laws, my sister in law and niece time to get there to watch.

R2 did great. He hit two for two. He had a new batting stance that he had been working on and it seemed to have made the difference. In the end, his team lost. But he was alright with it because he felt like he had done well personally.

We hurried over to the next field to watch R2 game which had already begun.

I just missed him hitting a double. He also had a great day. He is playing catcher this year.

Both my boys, catchers. My heart if full.

He did good for his first time behind the plate. He has to work on squatting, but he still did good. His team lost to but he had a ton of fun and in the end that is all that matters.

After most of the day at the ball park we went out to eat with the family. Then we came home for about two hours and then headed back out the door.

We ended the day with a party at a friends house. They had a tower water slide, blow up balls that you actually got inside and then they were put t in a small pool filled with water. They also had a bubble machine. Not to mention they had an in ground pool to boot. And the food, there was a ton of BBQ.

We all had a great time. It was a great way to end a great day.

The only thing that would have made the day better wsa if I would have taken a picture of the boys on opening day. I brought my camera but only remembered to take it out at the very end of each boys games. Yes, because that's how I roll.

We are dropping like flies in this household

Half of the house is/was/still sick.

Hubs was out of commission for two days. He had the sinus crud. He ran fever and for the past two days he did nothing but sleep.

R2 caught a virus and was throwing up. At one point it was coming out both ends. I know you were just dying to know that information. He hasn't been able to keep anything down. We tried soup, crackers, toast, sprite, water, and Gatorade. He did manage to keep down some butter rice and a few sips of Sprite but that was pretty late last night.

I have washed all of the throw blankets. Changed all of the sheets on all of the beds. I even hosed down the living room in Lysol. I really should purchase stock from Lysol with as much as I have used over the past two days.

I have wiped counter tops and door knobs with so many Clorox Wipes I should purchase stock from the as well.

I'm hoping that everyone is better by the weekend because opening day for the boys. And I've got my shirt ready.

It just happens that both boys are playing for the Cardinals this year. So I had a friend make this shirt for me. I love it.

Now off to find my hazmat suit and a fresh can of Lysol.

It's the new Pictionary only on a digital level

So a few friends of mine have been playing a new game.
Draw Something.

It's like crack, it's so addictive. And they've got me hooked.

I ran the battery down in my cell phone yesterday playing that game.

Gotta go time to draw.

Spring Break 2012 Edition Recap

So last week we were on Spring Break. Well the boys were, I on the other hand a work a few days. They were painful and now they are over and I don't want to talk about them anymore.

But while the boys were off the time at home was not wasted. They cleaned the house. They swept, vacuumed, dusted, did ALL of the laundry, and cleaned out closets. The only things they left for me was the bathrooms. Disgust! I hate to clean the bathroom. But the toothpaste residue in the boys bathroom sink does need to be washed off occasionally. And the toilet, well lets just say if I could replace it each and every time I cleaned I would but at $200.00 plus, I just take stock in bleach, rubber gloves, and a gas mask. Moving on.

Thursday night we went to the Heritage Festival Fair. The youth from church had planned on going that night so R1 would already be there and Hubs and I decided to take R2. We bought him a wrist band for $20.00 and he was able to ride the rides as many times as he wanted. What he wanted to ride were the big rides. Such as Music Express-a roller coaster that spins around in a circle really fast and plays really loud music. Then the Dragon Wagon-another roller coaster. The bumper cars, Tug Boast Twist, and then the dreaded helicopters. The helicopters are really a kiddie ride. They go around in circle about 10mph. and move up and down. The look on his face was PIT-TI-FUL! He was bored and couldn't wait to get off of those things. He had the need for speed. And yes he's just as cute as Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer were in that movie.

R2 and the bumper cars.

Oh and he also wanted to play a few of the games. But at $5.00 a pop we limited him to 4-5 games. I figured $20.00-$25.00 was enough to just toss down the drain. Because we did spend that much on wrist band and even more than that on food. One of the games was you take a ping pong ball and toss it into a small glass jar that had colored water in it. If you made it you won a goldfish. And at 30 ping pong balls for $5.00 I thought it was more bang for the buck. That was until R2 actually won a fish and we had to carry it around the fair for the rest of the night. And then the next day we had to go to Petco and get him a proper home, proper food, proper rocks and plants. So Goldie welcome to the family. I just dropped $30.00 on you so you better live longer than four hours after I put you in your new home. Just kidding. No I'm really not.
Goldie

But the best part of the night was when R2 gave each of us a hug and kiss while standing in line to ride the bumper cars again and said this was the best night of his life and winning a gold fish was what he had always wanted to do. And then he kissed and hugged both of us. That made everything worth it.

Then Friday we took the boys to the Children's Museum in Houston. They had so much fun. The entire museum is interactive and there is so much for them to do on each floor. There is one section called Kidtropolis, USA. It is set up like a small city. With a Bank, an ATM, a bike shop, a vets office, TV station, city hall, and HEB. Yes folks they are teaching our kids how to grocery shop. It was awesome. The other great part was the bottom level with Invention Convention. It was set up so the kids could make paper crafts like rockets and air planes, and wind tower paper cups. The boys even got to launch their the rockets they made in the launch tent. They also got to make out of Dixie cups and construction paper for the cranks and cams area to understand how cams and gears work. There was also a place to make to Lego cars to race on the test race track. There was so much to do in this section we didn't get to even finish.

We spent three hours there and it was well worth it. It is s
omething we will do again.

The boys doing an experiment.

R2 at the TV station doing the weather.

The boys climbing through the leaf tower.

This is made entirely out of old phones. Push button phones, rotary dial phones, old cell phones that were so big and heavy.

Rock climbing.

We also ate lunch with Amy and her family. It was great to see her again and to met her kids in person. I have heard so much about them from her blog.

It was great day. And I'm ready for another day just like.

Well I had a post ready to put up and even uploaded the pictures.

But for some reason the pictures do not want to work correctly. They are there but when I preview the post they aren't showing up.

I'm sure it's user error. I'll try to get it working and have it up for tomorrow.

Flywheel and Fireproof

Let start off by saying, I had a great weekend!

It was my birthday weekend. And we had a wedding to go to as well. My in-laws kept the boys all weekend. They left Friday after school and did not bring them home till Sunday afternoon.

Friday night Hubs and I grabbed a bite to eat in town and then ran some errands. We also managed to get our grocery shopping out of the way. We didn't get home till almost eleven. I know we are such party animals.

Saturday, we just hung around the house and did somethings here and then we went to the wedding and then Hubs took me out to eat for my birthday. I was torn between going to Saltgrass Steakhouse or Carino's Italian Restaurant. We ended up at Carino's. They have one of my favorite pasta dishes, Spicy Shrimp and Chicken. SOOOOO GOOOOOOD.

Sunday the boys came home and we decided to watch a few movies. A friend from Church had loaned us Courageous and when I gave it back to her, she had Flywheel and Fireproof.

Both movies were so good. I love the message each one sends. Another great part of these movies it that they are appropriate for the entire family. The boys loved watching them and I loved having them watch with me.

If you haven't seen Flywheel and Fireproof, don't wait another minute. They are worth it!

Errands, Courageous, and church

So I have lots of things swirling around in my head but I don't know that I can formulate them all into a post.

Friday night R2 had a friend spend the night. We took the boys out to eat at a place where they serve peanuts like a Mexican food restaurant would serve chips and hot sauce. The cool thing about the this place is that you just throw the peanut shells on the floor. But when you take two 7 year old boys, one almost 12 year old boy and a grown man to a place where it's OK to throw peanut shells, we will just say shells were a flyin'.

Then Saturday R1 had to be up at school at 7AM for UIL. I would say 7AM is a terrible hour to be awake on a Saturday, but I was up at 5AM. Which is even worse. I'm one of those people that when I wake up I'm up and can't go back to sleep. So I took R1 to school and then stopped and got donuts for breakfast. Because on Saturday morning at 7:30 nothing says breakfast of champions like fresh donuts.

While R1 was at UIL, Hubs, R2, and I took care of some errands. One of them being grocery shopping. We made it through produce, the meat department, and down the bread aisle when R1 called me to say they were leaving the school where UIL was being held and would be back at their school in about 40 minutes. I have never seen two people cover and entire grocery store in about 35 minutes. I must have looked a mouse in one of those maze things trying to find the cheese. Let's just say I was moving pretty quickly up and down the aisles.

Anyway, we made it and got to school to pick him up. Then we went home to unload all of the stuff we bought and then Hub's grilled chicken for dinner. Right in the middle of grilling dinner, his propane tank ran out. He usually has a spare but for some reason this time he didn't. And being the nice wife, I went back into town and exchanged a tank for him.

After dinner we all watched the movie, Courageous. If you haven't seen it, it is a MUST see. It was so good. I cried through most of the movie. At one point R1 looked at me and asked, mom are you crying AGAIN??? The boys even liked it despite my crying.

Sunday was church and then I had to go back into to town to find a red shirt for baseball. I have a friend who designs rhinestone T-shirts. She is making me one that says "CARDINAL BASEBALL". I can't wait! But I had to find a shirt for her to use. Believe it or not I found at the first store I went to and it was only $9.00.

Then I came home and did the never ending laundry and I wanted to watch a new show that will come on ABC on Sunday's at 9PM - central time. But I never made it to 9 o'clock. I feel smooth asleep in the recliner at 8:45PM. Thank goodness for the DVR.

So I hope y'all had a good weekend, I'm off to watch this new show. And I'll let ya know if it's any good.

Fashion Friday- again.

OK here it is, two weeks in a row.

I have found a few cute things this week. It's been so dang freaking hot here I've started thinking about the dreaded "S" word...swimsuits.

Shudder, OK moving on.

I have so many outfits pinned on Pinterest and I found this on Old Navy. It's so cute.

I love love love Yellowbox Flip Flops. I own so many pairs, Hubs says I could have my own shoe store in size 8 1/2.
I'm not gonna link to the next few things but I found them all on the Avenue.

Is it really March?

I totally blew it yesterday with not blogging something about it being February 29th and Leap Day/Year.

Yea, that's how I roll. Forgetting things.

But what I can't get over is that it's March. Seriously, what in the heck happened to January and February.

This year is just flying by.

That and yes folks, it's spring training time. Woo Hoo! Baseball season is less than a month away.

This year the boys both just happened to get picked for the Cardinals, different divisions but both on the Cardinals. You would think that would make me happy, one parent shirt.

I really want to find one that says Cardinal Baseball in bling. Hmmmm. I have a friend that designs blingy t's.

Gotta run, I need to call my friend.
