The Lake

All I can say is we had a blast!

Look what was waiting for me

Saturday morning I went out into the garage to get a few things and when I turned around to go back inside, this nice little creature was hanging from my car.

Not to mention it scared the crap out of me.

And so I did what any good blogger would do, I ran inside and grabbed my camera.

And after taking this picture I quickly got a broom, coaxed it onto the end and then set it nicely on the ground next to the empty lot by our house.

A walking stick needs to be around other sticks as in branches and tree limbs, and tree trunks.

He's the bridge

Yesterday afternoon Hubs and I were lying long ways on our bed talking.

Sometimes we have our best conversations when we just flop down on the bed and relax.

Anyway

We were laying there and R2 comes running in and squeezes himself in between us.

So I asked R2 who loves him the most, me or his daddy. It's a game we play. And he gives me his standard answer, he loves us both the same!

Such a great answer!

But then I asked him why he always squeezes in between me and his daddy.

R1 replied with because he's the bridge. The bridge that brings us together.

Not bad for a 5 year old, huh?

We're still tired

So as you can see we are still tired.

Actually the picture of R1 is at the lake. He was so tired he fell asleep watching movies.

The one of R2 is on our way home from Dallas. He was watching movies to and the next thing Hubs and I knew he was out.

We have had alot of going on here this past week. Lots of decisions to make and truth be known, all this decision making has made me tired.

Think I'm taking the rest of the day off and going back to bed.

See ya tomorrow.

We're tired

This past weekend we went to the lake. For several reasons I might add.

1. To pick up R1, he had been at grandparent camp all week.
2. To spend the weekend with my in-laws
3. We also had friends that went and we spent time with them.

And every one had a blast. The kids rode the tube, swam, and skied. Even R2 tried to water ski. I got some sun and managed to get rid of my ball park flip flop tan, well almost. And of course we ate some great food.

But I have to say, as much fun as I had, I am glad to be home. There is no place like home and sleeping in your own bed!

I hope y'all had a great weekend!

Seriously, it's only July!

Yes dear bloggy friends it's hurricane season. Which loosely translates into open season on the Gulf of Mexico.

Weather Underground is awesome for looking at all things weather related.
And right now I am keeping a very close eye on Tropical Storm Bonnie.

You all know I hate hurricane season for this, this, and this reason.

And one would think living in Southeast Texas most of my adult life I would be used to these kinds of things, but I am not. I don't think I ever will be.

And all I have to say is...

Hurricanes, hurricanes stay away!
I do not want to come out and play!
The house is fixed and I will pray,
that hurricane season will end today!!

Grandparent Camp

Every year the boys go Grandparent Camp.

They go for a week and have so much fun. They also make some wonderful memories.

See Grandparent Camp is where the grand parents get each grand child for a week by them selves. No sharing their time with anyone else. Just them, all week.

R1 is up at the lake with them now. He has been fishing every evening off of their dock and then today they are going to the deer lease to check things out.

He has been doing other things to but I hear most about the fishing because he calls each evening to tell me how many fish he caught.

R2 has already been there this summer and it's been over a month and he is still talking about it.

I love it because they are making precious memories and will remember this time for the rest of their lives. I still remember the vacations I took with just my grandparents and great grandparents.

I hope Grandparent Camp continues on for years and years to come.

That was WICKED!

One of the fun things we got to do while we were in Dallas was take the kids to Incredible Pizza.

It's an all you can eat pizza and pasta buffet along with an indoor glow in the dark putt-putt golf course, bowling, arcade games, skeeball, bumper cars, and go carts.

R2 had never been on bumper cars before and he was old enough and tall enough to get on by himself.

He had the biggest smile on his face when the cars started to go and had so much fun. The cars stopped and he jumped off and screamed...THAT WAS WICKED! And immediately wanted to ride again.

Then R1 rode the go carts with Hubs. They waited over 30 minutes but it was well work it! They both had a great time.

Saddle Ridge Ranch VBS

...On Saddle Ridge Ranch, rounding up questions, driving home answers...discovering when ever I need wisdom, God is the one to ask...on Saddle Ridge Ranch.

We just finished up our VBS last week and well it was an awesome!

The kids had a blast but I'm exhausted.

And the tunes were so catchy that we haven't stopped listening to them. R2 had me look them up on YOU TUBE and play them over and over.

And to be truthfully honest I just need another day to chill out. I'll be back tomorrow and wait till you see what I found in my garage Saturday morning.

Oh and thanks to who ever sent the laundry fairy over on Saturday. She did a fantastic job!

I'm lost, again

Baseball has ended and I miss it.

I miss the kids, the parents, and the game it's self.

It's so hard when you see these people three times a week and then all weekend for the past nine months and then all of a sudden it just stops.

I have been busy with VBS this week and our church holds VBS at night so my evenings have been busy. But what happens next week?

I guess I need to look on the bright side. We can all get back to some normal things. For example going to church as a family on Sundays. I have missed my church family. Especially my friend Beth.

And I guess now I have all day Saturday to get caught up on the laundry. YUK! Does anyone have a laundry fairy they can send over?

The Galaxy

When I was a kid we would sometimes go to a drive in movie theater.

My mom would make popcorn and we'd stop and get some can drinks and candy and put them in a cooler. And once we were there dad would open the fly windows and then roll down his window and hook the speak to his drivers window so we could hear.

Those were some great memories. My brother and I in the back of the car in our PJ's curled up with a blankets. Eating Jiffy Pop popcorn, my mom had just made on the stove, and drinking glass bottle cokes.

On our way to Dallas this past week, just before Ennis, TX I saw this...

I actually saw the screens first and thought it was an old shut down drive in. But to my surprise the Galaxy bill board had current movies showing.

Oh how I wish we had the time to stop. Drive-In movies are a dying thing and I would have loved for my boys to have this experience.

If any of you have the chance to take your kids to a drive-in I hope you do. It's something they will never forget.

Steak 'n Shake

While in Dallas we found our new favorite restaurant.

Steak 'n Shake.

This place is set up like a 1950's soda shop. And it serves up just like it's name...steak burgers and and hand spun shakes.

And they were FABULOUS!!

Even better the four of us all ate for about $25.00, including tip.

Hubs ordered a shake called the side by side. In the same glass was half banana, his choice, and half chocolate, again his choice. It was wonderful.

I had the strawberry, R1 had the Cookies 'n Cream, and R2 had the Mint Chocolate Chip. Each one was just as good as the next.

I had the Guacamole Burger with fries. It's a thin steak burger with fresh made guac on top. It was so yummy!

The fries are extra thin cut and served with out any seasoning. You get to put the amount of salt or pepper on them you want. Me I put just a little salt and enough pepper and then squirted ketchup all over them.

I don't know which was better the burger or the fries.

I see several trips to Houston in our future as there are no Steak 'n Shakes here.

And just to add to your already watering mouth, here are a few pictures.

Notice there are no pictures of the burgers and fries. Hate to say it but we were starving they looked so good when the brought them out, we scarfed them up!

A little bit of baseball and bloggyness

I'm back. I just wanted to let the three readers I have know I have returned to the bloggy world.

We were in Dallas last week for R1's World Series.

And are you ready for this...drum roll please.....

WE CAME IN SECOND PLACE!!! Not to bad. The boys played great too.

We really had a chance to win the entire tournament but the directors finally had to cancel it due to all of the rain we had. On Friday night the Dallas area received 6.5 inches of rain in a very short amount of time.

When we went to the fields to check the bases were under water. The hosting park worked on the fields, all eleven of them, to get them ready but they just couldn't do it.

And I have to say after a week in a hotel I was ready to come home.

The kids did have some great times. They went to a Texas Rangers game, swam, went to Incredible Pizza, rode go-carts, and ate at a place called Steak N Shake, which by the was fabulous!

At closing ceremonies, the coaches told the boys how proud they were of them and how much they had all improved over the last nine months.

And while I am excited about the break, I'm a little sad. The end of baseball always makes me feel sad. You get close to the people you are playing with. You are with them 3-4 times a week and all weekend. Then nothing. It makes me feel empty.

But a great thing I got to do in Dallas was meet up with Antique Mommy and her son.

I had emailed her a few months back and we decided to make some plans as the time drew closer.

She is so real and honest. She was so interesting and funny. She has some fantastic ideas too. She is just like she in her blog. I'm so glad I had the chance to meet her. And her son, just as sweet as he can be. He and R2 had fun playing in the play ground at Chick-fil-a.

Oh and she had on the cutest shirt and pink sandals! Thanks AM for meeting me. I had a great time.

And what kind of post would this be if I didn't put up some pictures of the World Series?

Here you go...Oh and GO STORM!!

Staying cool and wearing a bulls eye

While at R1's world series R2 decided he was to hot and needed to cool off. And this is how he decided to do so.

And R1 is on his way to setting the recording for being hit the most. He has been hit in the helmet, leg, back, and dare I say his behind at least once since the series started a few days ago.

Right now he has three bruises.

Here are a few of his bruises and well the other, like I said his behind. And I'm not taking any pictures of that!

It has almost become comical. He gets hit, just looks where he got hit and runs for first.

Another mom says he has a bulls eye on him. And I just tell him WAY TO WEAR IT BABE!!

R1 is a decade old

A few weeks ago R1 and I were discussing his up coming birthday. He said, "Mom, I'm going to be a decade old."

A DECADE!

I can hardly believe that my baby is ten. Where did the time go. I blinked and he went from being baby to five to ten.

But like I always do here is a list of ten things I love about my decade old child.

1. He has beautiful hazel eyes.

2. He loves the Lord.

3. He is an awesome big brother.

4. He has a terrific sense of humor.

5. He is a great baseball player.

6. He never leaves out a detail when telling a story.

7. He and I share a deep love for chips and hot sauce.

8. He still likes to snuggle with me,

9. He is a great student.

10. R1 is just a great kid.

I love you R1!! HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY!! Enjoy being a decade old.

EEEWWWWWW!!!!

OK so we had opening ceremonies for the World Series for R1 on Saturday.

But we never made it to the opening ceremonies nor the parade before.

Why?

One big massive down pour of rain that made all of us look as if we jumped right into the swimming pool.

The bad part...we had to get in the car while soaking wet.

Now my car smells soooooo bad. I open the door and EEEWWWW!!!!!

I have dried out the seats and sprayed Frebreeze but nothing is working. Oh I have even left the windows cracked.

So bloggy friends, I am asking no I am begging for help.

Any of you know how to get the smell out of my car? I would appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Thanks!

Hurricane prepardness at it's finest

With Hurricane season here for those of us that live near the Gulf of Mexico I thought I would re-post this picture.

You can never be to ready.
I'm just sayin'.
